Welcome Back to the Library, Leopards!

I’m thrilled to be kicking off our 6th year together at Elsa England! I’ve already begun Library Orientations with 5th, 4th, and 3rd grade, and will finish up this week with the rest of the classes not yet visited the library! By the end of this week, all 1,100 of our K-5 students will have received their library orientation lesson and checked out their FIRST books of the year!!!

Read more about our library policies, sign up for our Birthday Book Club, consider volunteering in the library, sign up for a parent library account, or check our library schedule — all right here on our library website!

Armadillo Award Committee Selection Day

Hello Hello, Emily Arrow, Hello!

Kindergarteners and 1st graders are very excited to meet Emily Arrow in a few weeks! Emily is a former elementary-school-music-teacher-turned-kidlit-singer/songwriter; writing and performing fabulous songs based on picture books!

You can watch many videos of her original songs on her Emily Arrow YouTube channel, and we are excited to offer the pre-sale opportunity to purchase a kazoo and/or a signed CD before her visit! Order forms will be sent home this week, and please return them by Wednesday, October 12th!

Thank you to our AWESOME PTA for funding and supporting this very special literacy-music visit from Emily Arrow!

Battle of the Bluebonnets 2014

It’s Battle time! This year, students who read at least 15 Bluebonnet Books were invited to join the Campus level Battle of the Bluebonnets on February 26, 2014. The competition was tough! Students used our new SMART Response system devices to submit their answers digitally and we all had a great time showing off our Bluebonnet knowledge.

In the end, we had to have a few tiebreakers, but ultimately selected our team of 5 students that would represent us a few weeks later in the DISTRICT level Battle of the Bluebonnets.

This year, England Elementary hosted the District level Battle of the Bluebonnets on March 20. 2014!
We showed off our beautiful school and our sharp Bluebonnet team!

The England Team did SUCH a great job during the battle! Working as a team, they only missed TWO questions out of the 40 questions! Our school is SO proud of all of their Bluebonnet knowledge!
Way to go, Evan, Changbin, Adithi, Cassie & Akshay!
