Unusual Reading Spot Photo Contest

The England Library is so excited to host our First Annual Unusual Reading Spot Contest!  Students will enjoy having their picture taken while reading in an unusual place or pose and entering their picture in our school-wide contest.  Students might be found reading in a refrigerator, near an important landmark, in a basketball hoop, or any place your imagination takes you. In the photos, students should be visibly reading a book (see examples below).  The winners will have their photos enlarged to 12”x16” for display in our England Library.

Who :  Any student attending England!  (Only one entry per student.)

When :  from NOW until Friday, January 18, 2013

How :  Participating students must turn in a 4”x6” or 5”x7” photo print on photo paper of their contest entry.  The entries will be voted on by a panel of judges and the winning images will then need to provide a digital version of their image (please take the photo in the highest resolution your camera will allow) so that we may enlarge it for display in the library.  Please note that “camera-phone” photos will not be a high enough resolution to print in an enlarged size.  Please pick up a participation form in the library or download one from the eFolder or Library Website to attach to your contest entry picture.

Is your family traveling somewhere special this Fall for Thanksgiving or Winter Break?  Grab your digital camera and a book and think of a creative reading spot or pose to enter in our contest!  Happy Reading!

Giveaway: July Jitters – ending 7/15

{this giveaway is now CLOSED}

YOU can win a free copy of July Jitters, the newest book in the Calendar Mysteries series (an early chapter book mystery series featuring the younger siblings of the A to Z Mysteries detectives), which will be published on June 26, 2012!  In this story, the kids and their pets are going to march in the Fourth of July Pet Parade. The winner of the patriotic pet costume contest gets a great prize—to be mayor for a day! For Bradley’s entry, Polly the Pony gets to be President Thomas Jefferson for the day. But Polly runs off with her red wig and hat still sitting on her head. Maybe she has stage fright! Can the kids find her and calm her down before the fourth of July festivities begin?

Here’s how to enter this giveaway:

1.  Visit the England Library blog between now and when the contest closes (Sunday, July 15th at midnight).

2.  Write a comment on THIS post.  Your comment should include your FIRST NAMELAST INITIALwhat GRADE you’ll be in THIS YEAR, and the title of your FAVORITE BOOK!  Do not leave any other personal information in your comment!  You do NOT need to include an e-mail address. Only one entry per student will be accepted, and only England Elementary students are eligible to participate.  Every comment has to be approved in order to appear on the website, so if you don’t see your comment right away, don’t worry!

3.  On Monday, July 16th, I will choose a comment at random and that student will receive the giveaway prize!  The winner will be announced here on the library blog and the prize book will be reserved for the winner to pick up from our library in August!

Welcome!

Welcome to the England Library Website!  My name is Emily Kupersztoch and I am so excited to to be your new librarian!  I have been the librarian at Brushy Creek Elementary School for the last four years, and I am thrilled to be planning our fabulous new library, which will be opening in August.  This year is also a special year for me, since I will be celebrating my tenth year in education!

Please see the “Buy THIS!” link in the blue bar at the top of this page.  I am actively collecting your ideas for what you want to have in OUR library!  I would love for our incoming students to fill out the google form and let me know about their favorite authors, books, and series. This is YOUR library!

I love designing and updating our library website and I think you’ll find it very easy to access lots of information here.  It is a priority that our library website is always up-to-date, and will feature news & announcements, program information, learning, and lots of videos, pictures and links.  Keep checking back!

Also, feel free to leave me a comment!  You can leave a comment to introduce yourself by clicking on the “comment bubble” on the corner of this post.  I would love to know who stopped by our website!

I look forward to meeting each of our new England families soon!
