Upcoming End-of-Year Library Dates and Deadlines!
4th Annual Unusual Reading Spot Contest – due April 15, 2016
The England Library is so excited to host our Fourth Annual Unusual Reading Spot Contest! Students enjoy having their picture taken while reading in an unusual place or pose and entering their picture in our school-wide contest. Students might be found reading in a refrigerator, near an important landmark, in a basketball hoop, or any place your imagination takes you. Our students read EVERYWHERE!
In the photos, students should be visibly reading a book – and we should clearly be able to see the book cover (see examples below). The 10 winning images will be enlarged to 12”x16” for display in our England Library during the 2016-17 school year. ALL PARTICIPATING IMAGES will be displayed in the hallway after the winners are announced so that our community can view and admire the awesome student entries!
Who : Any student attending England! (Only one entry per student, however students are welcome and encouraged to include siblings in a joint photo!)
When : from NOW until Friday, April 15, 2016
Contest Rules: Participating students must turn in a 4”x6” or 5”x7” photo print on photo paper of their contest entry. The entries will be voted on by a panel of judges and the winning images will then need to provide a digital version of their image (please take the photo in the highest resolution your camera will allow) so that we may enlarge it for display in the library. Please note that “camera-phone” photos will not be a high enough resolution to print in such an enlarged size for display in the library. Additionally, please do not Photoshop or otherwise edit the photo in order to superimpose parts of the image – we want it to be as authentic of an image as possible. Pick up a participation form in the library or download one below to attach to your contest entry picture.
Please note these additional guidelines: Your book must “match” the unusual reading spot, and the cover of your book must be visible in the photo.

Welcome Mrs. Reece!
England Students & Families,
While I am home taking care of my new baby in the next few months, England is lucky to have a great librarian who will be our substitute librarian through the end of March! Her name is Mrs. Reece, and you can see a picture of her below. She is excited to be teaching lessons to our students and working with Mrs. Huffor to keep our library running smoothly and in tip-top shape! Here is a message from Mrs. Reece:
My name is Traci Reece and I am so lucky to get the opportunity to work in the Elsa England library while Mrs. Kupersztoch and her family enjoy their new baby! I went to college at Tulane University in New Orleans, and then library school at UT Austin. I’ve worked and volunteered for libraries and tech companies since then, doing website design, programming, training and support.
I have two daughters at Westwood High School and a son at Spicewood Elementary, where I’ve spent the last 7 years volunteering in the library. My favorite books to read aloud are Charlotte’s Web by E.B. White, Madeline by Ludwig Bemelmans, and Matilda by Roald Dahl. My own favorite book is Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. I love making gumbo when it’s cold, knitting when I have time, traveling with my husband and family, and of course READING!
Please stop by the library and introduce yourself to Mrs. Reece! I know she is looking forward to meeting all of our England Leopards!
3rd-5th: Bibliophiles Information Session

Well, you might just be Bibliophile material!
Mrs. Kupersztoch is holding Information Sessions on Tuesday, September 3rd during 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade recess. If you think you want to be a Bibliophile, come to your grade level’s Information Session to find out more and pick up an application!

Welcome Mrs. Sorrels!
England Students & Families,
While I am home taking care of my new baby in the next few months, England is lucky to have a great librarian who will be our substitute librarian through the end of the year! Her name is Mrs. Sorrels, and she is a recently retired librarian, most recently at Deep Wood Elementary just down the road. She is excited to be teaching lots of lessons to our students, hosting our Spring Book Fair the week of April 29 – May 3, and we have some special End-Of-The-Year surprises in store, too! Here is a message from Mrs. Sorrels:
I am very happy to be working at Elsa England while your librarian is at home with her baby. I am a retired librarian with 18 years experience. I’m also an artist who loves to paint. My favorite book is Because of Winn Dixie. Bryan Collier is my favorite illustrator.

Vote for Forest North Elementary!
Parents and Teachers,
